For daytime and hot months, lighter fabrics work best. Cotton and linen breathe well and stay comfortable in the heat, which makes them a sensible pick for everyday wear and casual outings. They also take colour beautifully, so you are not trading style for practicality.

For evenings and formal occasions you have more room to play. Silks, chiffons and heavier blended fabrics carry the structure and shine that suit weddings, dinners and celebrations. Sarees in particular reward a good fabric choice, since the drape depends almost entirely on the weight and finish of the cloth.
